Police firing during UML’s programme at Saptari
Mar 6, 2017- Three persons have died in Monday’s Saptari incident where police opened fire to contain the aggravated cadres of Madhesi Morcha who were in a bid to foil CPN-UML’s programme that was being held as a part of its Mechi-Mahakali awareness campaign.
The Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed the deaths.
Bal Krishna Panth, spokesperson at the Ministry told the Post that the Ministry has received information from the ground that three people succumbed to the bullet injury. He, however said the Ministry could not establish the identity of deceased people due to obstructions created by the Madhesi Morcha.
According to the security sources, those killed in the incident are Sajjan Meheta, Pitambar Mandal and Digambar Jha—all from Saptari.
